Privacy policy
In short: almost everything stays on your phone. We never sell your data and we don't show ads. We count anonymous app events with a random ID: never your name, your location or the apps you lock.
1. Data that stays on your phone
These are stored only on your device. They are included in your phone's own Android backup to your Google account if you have backup turned on.
- Your settings, including the name you type during onboarding (optional).
- Your city or approximate location, used to calculate prayer times on the device.
- Your prayer history and streak.
- Your Quran reading progress.
- The list of apps you choose to lock, and how long you unlock them for.
2. Permissions and what they are used for
| Permission | Why | Leaves the phone? |
|---|---|---|
| Approximate location (optional) | To work out prayer times for where you are. You can pick a city instead. | No |
| Notifications, alarms and reminders | To play the adhan and remind you on time. | No |
| Usage access (Pro) | To see which app is open, so a locked app can wait for prayer. | No |
| Display over other apps (Pro) | To show the prayer screen over a locked app. | No |
| Ignore battery optimisation (Pro) | So the lock keeps working on time. | No |
3. Data shared with service providers
| Provider | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics | App events (for example "onboarding step viewed" or "prayer marked on time") tied to a random install ID created by the app. Device model, Android version, language, and crash reports. | To understand which features work and to fix crashes. Events never contain your name, location, city or the apps you lock. |
| RevenueCat and Google Play | Purchase and subscription records, an anonymous RevenueCat customer ID, and the same random install ID. | To sell and restore the Pro subscription. Google Play processes payments; we never see your card details. |
| Supabase | An access code, only if you enter one under "Have a code?". | To check reviewer and partner codes. |
These providers process data under their own privacy policies and only to provide their service to us.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
- We don't upload your prayer history, Quran progress, location or locked-app list.
5. Your choices
- You can turn off any permission at any time in Android Settings.
- To erase the app's data on your phone, use You → Privacy corner → Delete your data. This also resets the app's analytics data. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on the phone.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play.
- To ask about or delete data held by our service providers, write to us using the address below. Please include the Support ID shown in the app.
6. Data retention
On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data are kept by Google under Firebase's retention settings. Purchase records are kept as required for accounting and by Google Play.
7. Children
Namaz First is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
